Deer Tick - “Twenty Miles”
This band, from Providence, Rhode Island, is mainly built around the vocals of John McCauley, who incorporates country and rock influences into his writing and sound. After Rolling Stone proclaimed their second record Born on Flag Day the “Country-Rock breakthrough of the year”, they joined tours with Neko Case and Dawes. This song is from their third record, The Black Dirt Sessions, was culled from tracks recorded at the same time as Born on Flag Day.
Gomez - “Airstream Driver”
This song, from Gomez’s sixth record A New Tide, shows the expanse of their musical talents, pulling in blues, catchy pop melodies, and quirky indie rock sounds. Despite finding success with their first two releases Bring It On and Liquid Skin, they have bounced around between labels before landing on Dave Matthews’ ATO Records, which is also home to Dawes, the Drive By Truckers, Danny Barnes, and My Morning Jacket.
Dawes - “Love Is All I Am”
These soulful California country rockers are redefining the Laurel Canyon sound that once echoed in the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Joni Mitchell, and many others. Their debut, North Hills, has several singles in rotation here at KXT, including “When My Time Comes” and “My Girl to Me”.
