OK, I admit it.  I cave into my musical crushes on a daily basis.  My latest one hails from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and his album Signs & Signifiers makes me wanna back comb my hair, smack my gum and shake what the good Lord gave me.  Close your eyes and for a moment you might think you’re hearing one of the soundtracks to an early John Waters film (Mondo Trasho totally comes to mind) or the lost son of Link Wray, but no, he’s from the here and now and he’ll capture your heart for all eternity.  Ladies and gentlemen, J.D. Francophiles and sci-fi freaks, this one’s for you.  French electro-duo Air was commissioned to come up with the soundtrack for the newly-restored and colorized ‘Le Voyage dans la Lune’, the 1902 classic from ‘cinemagician’ Georges Méliès.  Check out NPR’s interview with Nicolas and Jean- Benoit and the history of the restoration project via the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
